Computer History Museum, Revolution: the First 2000 Years of Computing – Mt. View, CA
Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, a new 25,000sf exhibit forms the core of the museum after a $19M renovation. From the abacus to the Internet, 20 different exhibit galleries chronicle 2,000 years of computing history through the use of artifacts, interpretive graphics, films, digital programs and interactives.
Formerly an office building, the space was transformed by VS&R from an open floor plan to a series of intimate galleries that lead visitors through this large and complex story. The exhibit’s design creates a modern environment that highlights the 1,100 artifacts on display, from tiny microprocessors to sections of room-sized early computers.
