Drexel University: Academy of Natural Sciences – Philadelphia, PA

Our task was to create a vision that would transport the Academy from where it is to where it could be! The transformation of the Library Reading Room into a key component of the visitor experience is crucial to redefining the Academy as a fun, engaging, and dynamic destination for families of all types. In addition, versatility is important. Whatever type of exhibit is agreed upon, it must be able to have frequently changeable components, at a minimum. At the same time, it must require a minimum of human resource to support such dynamism. Further, the current space is frequently utilized for a range of events, from receptions with bars and high-tops, to board meetings, and seminars with theater-style seating. These are revenue-generating opportunities that the Academy does not want to lose.
